Your Home Tip for the month of June,
- Be prepared for an emergency situation. A responsible adult should be able to locate & shut off the home's heating fuel, electric & water supply valves. Also remember that all fire extinguishers should be checked periodically to ensure they have an adequate charge.
Your Home Tip for the month of July,
- Prior to leaving for vacation, protect your property from intruders. Complete your yard work & trim any tree limbs which give access to the upper areas of the home. Use light timers in several rooms & arrange for them to operate at various intervals.
Your Home Tip for the month of August,
- Keep your garage safe with maintenance & organization. Minimize dust, trash and cobwebs or anything that may interfere with the electrical system. Clean up grease & other spills immediately when they occur. Secure shelving units to the walls, making sure they are not overloaded.
Your Home Tip for the month September,
- Prevent household injuries caused by falls. Install handrails on stairs & keep them free from clutter. Make sure lighting is adequate, especially in hallways and at the top & bottom of staircases. Use gates in homes with babies & toddlers.
Your Home Tip for the month October,
- Select energy-efficient models when buying office equipment & home electronics. Connect them to power strips with surge protectors, and turn off when not in use. Extension cords should only be used temporarily.
